Eden : it's an endless world

The future is wild, maybe is the rigth word for Eden:it's an endless world, one of the best manga I've ever read created by Hiroaki Endo. The best impression I get from this manga is what so-called multi-genre story, it start with sci-fi mystery followed by sadistic action which make it not suitable for underage even the main character is a 12 years old boy accompany by a humanoid robot that can act as a deadly weapon. The story keep flowing like life itself, the boy grow-up naturally with attitude shaped from all his expiriences along the story, gang-war, world conspiracy, human-robot interaction, any story you name it they have it, even there is a scene that shows explicit adultry act.

In the future earth has been overwhelmed by a deadly virus, it eats human inner-body and change human skin into solid material, it eat slowly from inside and leave the fragile skin which make the victim look like an empty shell. Base on this crisis, countries create alliancies among each other and divide world into several new power that induce new cold war on dealing with the viruses that start to mutated become more deadly then ever. This is where our boy try to spend his youth by hunting around in abandoned city try to survive which he actually is the son of a leader of a third party power that can balance the conflict among the alliances, that makes him always in the middle of continues unrest extra-violence bloody deciesive high level global conflict.

The mangaka try to achieve the same vibe as Akira and Ghost in the Shell, I would guess that he try to mix both masterpieces with the story that closely reflected world nowadays. If you always hunger for high detail illustration, man-robot interaction, total shooting action, etc then you will love Eden.

"For someone who doesn't believe in anything, the strictness of mathematic is a synonym of certainty"(Sophia, Eden, Hiroaki Endo, 1998)
